A number of stakeholder groups stand to benefit, including hardware/communications, technology providers, dealers, research/academia, consultants, and standards organizations. Ongoing work to map out the opportunities for each of these stakeholder groups has yielded the following information to date:
Hardware and communications
- Complimentary to all OTM products
- Can be the “go to” OTS hardware platform
- Can be the unifying User Interface
- Reduce the level of custom development to enable applications
- Greater control over hardware standard requirements (GPS, comms, accelerometer, etc)
- Create unique, standardized definitions on the content of all parameters used in IREDES to ensure parameters from different systems have the same meaning, and machines can “talk to” and “understand” each other
Technology providers
- Reduced barriers to entry increases attractiveness of mining technology vertical to major players such as Google, Microsoft, etc
- Form a data acquisition basis for integration of the mining process into enterprise level modeling, cost analysis, and decision finding systems
