Montreal Forum: Building a Global Strategic Vision of Future Mining
Date: Saturday, April 29
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST
Location: Palais des congrès, Room 516A

Join GMSG for a one-day interactive forum on the strategies and priorities needed to reach the industry’s collaborative vision of future mining. Our international forums are an opportunity to network with like-minded industry members and collaborate with companies working toward mining innovation.

The Montreal Forum will build on discussions from previous Denver and Singapore forums, with topics including:

  • Digital communications infrastructure in underground mines
  • Implementation of a successful integrated operations action plan
  • GMSG’s International Autonomous Mining Guideline
  • Value drivers for mining innovation

A full forum agenda is available here. Follow this link for registration.

Battery Electric Vehicles Underground Workshop
Date: Sunday, April 30
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST
Location: Palais des congrès

This workshop is designed to teach mining owners and operators how to implement the Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) guideline strategies in an underground environment. The guideline was created through a joint effort from GMSG and the Canadian Mining Innovation Council (CMIC), and will be available prior to the workshop.  Participants will learn about the rational and value of BEVs underground, and the major body of work to assist implementation, focused on four key areas: Mine Design, Batteries, Chargers and Components, and Performance Requirements. Registration for this workshop is available through CIM.

AGM and Networking Event
Date: Tuesday, May 2
Time: 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. EST
Location: Hotel William Gray, Foyer Edward

Find out where the industry is headed in an evening of drinks and hor d’oeuvres while socializing with key industry peers. Integrated Operations Workshop
Date: Wednesday, May 3
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EST
Location: Palais des congrès, Room 512A

The Integrated Operations workshop will bring together the input from several prior global events with the objective of setting concrete project plans for collaborative work throughout 2017. The workshop will begin with an exercise to achieve consensus on the definition of Integrated Operations. Following that, the focus will be on working group project work prioritization and planning, based on the four project proposals arising from prior workshops:

  • Developing the business case
  • Definitions
  • Conducting a study to gather and review all existing knowledge on IO, from within mining and other sectors
  • Development of a guideline to assist companies to maximize value through a framework of integration loops

Registration is available here.

Autonomous Mining Workshop
Date: Wednesday, May 3
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST
Location: Palais des congrès, Room 512A

This workshop will build on the work accomplished in the Denver workshop, where a three-part action plan for 2017 was established for the Autonomous Mining Guideline project group. As part of Phase One of the guideline development, working group participants will narrow the scope and focus on autonomous haul trucks and LHDs, as well as define common language and terminologies. Participants will also assist in mapping the big picture for the working group, by identifying the full suite of guideline documents that should be developed and a project timeline.
Registration is available here.
